residents of nozawa onsen make lanterns out of snow outside their houses, bit like turnips in england

nozawa onsen

14 hot springs in the tiny mountain town of nozawa onsen, all really old, all free. apparently many people in the town don't have showers and can only wash in the town's hot springs. walk straight in off the street, kit off and in you get. so tiny. the one ben and me went to could get 8 people in shoulder to shoulder.

i did crash into a tree, and now i have whiplash for the second time this season. kind of feels like swollen glands, looking left and right hurts, and if you tip your head back you have to upright it with your hands. takes 2 weeks to fully heal.

had been waiting eagerly for the closed down 'origin bentou' to reopen as a bar or restaurant. instead what do i get? 1030am till 7pm opening shiroyama cleaning, no use to me at all.

after the 2.36 billion dollar write downs at credit suisse all new hiring was stopped. my manager had to reapply and was accepted. we had a chat with an informal offer which i accepted. will be good to start on the career ladder, not worrying about contract renewals every 6 months.
